Use Case · SAR & CERT

Cover the search area on one map

Track every search team, log clues where they are found, and coordinate across backcountry with no coverage. TAK server, mesh, a field server, and an optional satellite uplink — situational awareness for search-and-rescue and community emergency response teams, wherever the search takes you.

The problem

The search is where the coverage is not

Search-and-rescue happens in exactly the terrain that has no cell service — canyons, forest, backcountry. Base cannot see which teams have cleared which segments, clues get radioed in and lost, and volunteer teams arrive with different tools. MAGK gives every team the same live map over its own mesh, hosted on a portable server at base.

What you can do

What the team gets

Team tracking

See every team on the ground

Live positions for every search team on one shared map, so base can see coverage in real time and direct teams into unsearched segments.

  • Live team positions across the search area
  • Mark segments, hazards, and the last known point
  • Standard CoT — interoperates with partner TAK users
  • Runs on the phones and tablets volunteers already carry

Clue logging

Log a clue exactly where it is found

A footprint, a dropped item, or a sign of passage becomes a located, timestamped marker with a photo, so base sees the pattern build across teams in real time.

  • Drop a clue marker at the exact position found
  • Attach a photo and note so the clue speaks for itself
  • Every marker is timestamped and attributed
  • Base sees clues from all teams on one map

Comms

Coordinate with no coverage

Text and voice ride the MAGK Net mesh across terrain that has no cell service, so teams stay in contact deep in the search area.

  • Text and voice with no cellular dependency
  • Group-scoped channels by team or task
  • Messages queue out of range and send on reconnect
  • Coverage extends as teams and relays spread across terrain

Field server & uplink

Sets up at base

A field server hosts the TAK server at base, so the operation works with no internet. Add a satellite uplink for an incident commander or agency, and an uplink drop never interrupts teams in the field.

  • Full picture and comms with no uplink present
  • Clients associate to the field server over MAGK Net
  • Optional satellite uplink for off-site command
  • Uplink loss does not degrade the picture at base

How it connects

TAK, Net, and Devices working together

The shared picture, the connection that carries it, and the kit that runs it in the field.

  1. MAGK TAK

    The shared picture

TAK server and client. Team positions, clue markers, search segments, and group-scoped visibility, spoken over standard Cursor on Target.

  2. MAGK Net

    The connection

Mesh radio that carries the picture, text, and voice across backcountry terrain with no cellular coverage.

  3. MAGK Devices

    The field kit

Field server and end-user hardware. Hosts TAK at base and links teams into the mesh, with an optional satellite uplink.

Teams connect to the field server over MAGK Net. The server hosts TAK at base, so the operation keeps a live picture with no internet. A satellite uplink links an incident commander when present; when it drops, coordination at base carries on uninterrupted.
